5 Gardening Projects to Do with the Kids

by On Apr 10 2018

Ready to get your hands dirty? Gardening projects are perfect for keeping the kids entertained in the spring and summer. We’ve found a few projects that will make them get outside, work hard, and learn more about the nature around them. Here are a few cute gardening projects to get you started:

Popsicle Stick Plant Markers

Do you already have plants or a garden? Then this is the perfect starter project. Kids will make plant markers out of popsicle sticks. This lets them get crafty while teaching them the names of plants.

DIY Chia Pets

We all remember chia pets! Kids can make their own in a few simple steps. Once they’re done making it, they can take care of their new plant pet with water and sunlight and watch it grow. Soon enough, they’ll be asking for a real pet!

Jack and the Beanstalk

If your kids love this classic story, then this is a project you have to try. The kids can make a castle out of construction paper, then watch their very own beanstalk grow taller and taller over the weeks.

Mini Flower Pots

These mini flower pots are an adorable project and sized just right for little hands. Kids can pick the flowers they want to plant, decorate their mini pot, and then watch them grow. Once they have a seedling in their mini pots, they can advance to a bigger pot or planting flowers outside.

Herb Garden

If your kids like to help out in the kitchen, then this is a project they will be proud to complete. Try planting a small herb garden with a few of the family’s favorite herbs to cook with. In just a few weeks, they will be able to pick their own herbs and taste their hard work.
