REQUIREMENTS TO START YOUR DISCOUNT POWER SERVICE


WE JUST NEED A FEW MORE THINGS FROM YOU.

We're happy that you're interested in choosing Discount Power. Before we can complete your enrollment and confirm your service start date, you'll need to provide us with some addtional information.

 

Here's what we need from you to get your electricity service started.

DEPOSIT REQUIRED

Your full deposit amount must be met before we can start your service. Here’s how you can pay your deposit:

Letter of Credit from your most recent electricity provider
Ask your previous provider to fax it to 1-877-619-0161. They’ll need to include the following in the fax cover sheet:

  • Your Discount Power account number
  • The name on the account
  • Your service address
  • Your phone number


or, mail it to Discount Power, P.O. Box 2229, Houston, TX 77252-2229.

Proof that you are at least 65 years old

Email your identification to DepositOptions@USRetailersenergy.com or fax it to 1-877-619-0161. Include the following in your email or fax cover sheet:

  • Your Discount Power account number
  • The name on the account
  • Your service address
  • Your phone number

Acceptable forms of personal identification are:

  • Valid, unexpired state-issued identification card (front and back)
  • Driver’s license from the United States (front and back)
  • Passport (Be sure to include both the photo and the signature pages in the image submitted of the open book including all four corners.)
  • Alien Registration card (front and back)
  • Consulate ID / Matricula Consular (for any country) (front and back)
  • Texas Concealed Handgun License (front and back)
  • Social Security card (front and back)

Proof that you are active military personnel

Email a copy of your military orders to DepositOptions@USRetailersenergy.com or fax it to 1-877-619-0161. Include the following in your email or fax cover sheet:

  • Your Discount Power account number
  • The name on the account
  • Your service address
  • Your phone number

Proof that you are medically disadvantaged
Send a certification letter confirming that you have a medical-related electricity need by fax to 1-877-619-0161. You’ll need to include the following in your fax cover sheet:

  • Your Discount Power account number
  • Name on the account
  • Service address
  • Your contact phone number

To review your request for support, we’ll you to complete the provided form. Here are some important things to keep in mind:

For Section 2, the name on your Discount Power account must match the name on the form. Additionally, your primary address must match the address on your account.

For Section 3
, a certified representative (i.e. Social Security office or a government funded energy assistance program provider) must complete this section, or you may attach proof of government assistance (i.e. Social Security or Retirement Income, Unemployment or Worker's Compensation, or Child Support/Alimony
documents) to the form.

For Section 4
, your health care physician must complete and sign this section. Completion of the Income Calculation Worksheet on page 2 is not required, but will help us decide if the income eligibility portion of the requirements in Section 3 has been met.

Once your form has been processed and approved, your deposit will be covered and your request for service will be processed. If you have any questions, give us a call at 1-877-455-4674 We pride ourselves on putting our customers first.

Proof that you are a victim of family violence

Please fax a copy of your Certification Letter/waiver for electricity service to 1-877-619-0161. Include the following in your fax cover sheet:

  • Your Discount Power account number
  • The name on the account
  • Your service address
  • Your phone number

Your letter should be dated within the past 12 months and come from one of the following: the Texas Council on Family Violence, treating medical personnel, law enforcement personnel, the office of a Texas district attorney or county attorney, the office of the attorney general, or grantees of the Texas Equal Access to Justice Foundation. If you don’t already have the completed documentation, you may obtain it from your caseworker. Please do not submit police reports, protective orders or other letters. Proof that you are a low-income customer

You may qualify for deposit payment assistance. Give us a call at 1-877-455-4674 for more information.

NEW OCCUPANT CONFIRMATION

If you recently moved, we may be waiting for two documents of confirmation from you:

  • New Occupant Confirmation Form: Please include the ESID number for your service address on this form.
  • A photocopy of one of the forms of additional documentation listed in the form.

SECURITY NOTIFICATION

We weren’t able to confirm your identity. We will need a copy of two of the following valid forms of identification:

  • Valid, unexpired state-issued identification card (front and back)
  • Driver’s license from the United States (front and back)
  • Passport (Be sure to include both the photo and the signature pages in the image submitted of the open book including all four corners.)
    Alien Registration card (front and back)
  • Consulate ID / Matricula Consular (for any country) (front and back)
  • Texas Concealed Handgun License (front and back)
  • Social Security card (front and back)

  • Consulate ID / Matricula Consular (for any country) (front and back)

COPY OF DEED OR LEASE REQUIRED

Please submit a copy of your entire deed or lease via email addressconfirmation@usretailers.com or fax it to 1-877-619-0161. You’ll also 
need to include a cover sheet with the following information:

  • Your Discount Power account number
  • The following signed statement: "I allow Discount Power to continue processing my enrollment."
  • The name on the account
  • The address for which you're requesting service
  • Your daytime phone number and the best time to reach you

Please keep in mind that it takes us at least two business days after we receive a copy of your deed or lease to finish processing your enrollment.

IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED

We’ll need a copy of two of the following valid forms of identification:

  • Valid, unexpired state-issued identification card (front & back)
  • Driver’s License from the United States (front & back)
  • Passport (complete pages above and below or both sides of the fold)
  • Alien Registration card (front & back)
  • Consulate ID/Matricula Consular (for any country front & back)
  • Texas Concealed Handgun License (front & back)

SURETY BOND FINALIZATION

Your full surety bond amount must be met before we can start your service. Here’s how you can pay your surety bond: 

  • Call us: 1-877-455-4674
  • Send a check by mail: 910 Louisiana St, Houston, TX 77002. We’ll process your request once we receive your check.
  • Visit My Account online

PLEASE REMEMBER: YOUR ENROLLMENT WILL EXPIRE IF YOUR ACCOUNT IS
NOT UPDATED.
